Onion Poultice

For those experiencing congestion, tightness in their chest, or difficulty breathing, an onion poultice is highly effective for bringing rapid relief. Onions are high in quercetin, a long-lasting, anti-inflammatory polyphenol with potent antiviral and antimicrobial effects.[1] Onion poultices take effect within approximately 30 minutes.

Step 1

Chop 1 large onion into small pieces.

Step 2

Briefly sauté the onion in 1-2 tbsp (approximately) of water to heat the onion (then strain liquid). Place onion onto a thin kitchen towel.

Step 3

Place the towel on the chest and wrap chest with Glad Press ’N Seal. Let sit for minimum of 1 hour, or overnight.

Helpful to use immediately when chest is congested.
